Happy 4th

Shuler, Jason, & I spent this evening at the lake with the Wilsons & a few of their friends. Our little waterbug definitely enjoyed himself.

Bathroom Humor

My mother always affectionately refers to baby poop as "rosebuds," so that is the metaphor I will use to tell this story. Everyone always says that once you have a baby, all you ever talk about is sleep & poop...

Lately, we have been worried that our little "gardener" hasn't been producing frequent "rosebuds." The peditrician is not too concerned - in fact he said the record of his patients has been going 10 days without a "rosebud!" Well, we decided to give him some prunes with his cereal today to help "fertilize the rosebuds." We had a big day at the lake and when we came home, we immediately fixed Shuler's bath and began to undress him. I noticed a smell, so we gingerly removed his diaper and were disappointed to find just a tiny little "rosebud." The next thing we know, Shuler's "garden hose" is spraying everywhere! We both get tickled and start laughing hysterically and then realize that he is also making LOTS of "rosebuds" all over the changing table! All we could do is laugh and wait for him to get it all out.

Needless to say, the prunes worked...

Visit with the Aunties

Shuler & I spent a few days with Aunt Kristen & Aunt Liz in Columbia this week. We had a great time! Shuler played in a pool for the first time, and loved it! And he spent all day Friday shopping with the girls (haha). We were quite the little foursome, making frequent pit-stops in the "Family Restrooms." He was a little trooper!

Belly Sleeper

In the last 2 days, Shuler has learned to roll to his belly. Up until now, this child hated being on his tummy. Yesterday morning, I heard him fussing and found him on his tummy. He spent the last 2 days rolling back and forth and last night he apparently decided he liked it. We kept going in and turning him back over, but he would roll right back. This must be very natural for him because he slept until 8:30! I have probably taken a million pictures of this new trick, so here are some of my favorites...

This is how I found him this morning

First Father's Day

Shuler & I tried to make today a great day for Jason & I think we were successful. We got him a brand new Nook & made him biscuits & gravy (his favorite) and Bloody Mary's for breakfast. Shuler also rewarded his Daddy by sleeping through the night (woohoo!!) & taking a 2 hour nap. We had a very relaxing day...a rare pleasure for us these days.
