Your child can read too

I try to stay off of my soapbox, but this one I'm going to share for once. Ever since I had Shuler, I get people asking me if I'm using Baby Einstein or a variety of other programs of this nature. I always give the same answer - no, I read to my child. Heck, I read to alot of other people's children too - every day in my classroom - and I will be the first to tell you that the key to fostering a love of reading does not come in a box. It will be a while before Shuler can understand the words on the page, but he loves books. Why? Because I do!

Happy Sweet Potato Day

Shuler is not a big fan of meat...on the other hand, he is a huge fan of sweet potatoes and there were plenty of those around for Thanksgiving :-) He is such a big boy! He ate almost all table foods this weekend and was into EVERYTHING. He has successfully rearranged my mom's living room as well as Papa's. He is pulling up on anything that stands still and is trying so hard to stand up on his own. We also discovered that he has two little tooth buds coming in up top!
These bowls are broken...there's nothing in them!

Yummy!

Attempt to get a picture with Shuler & Makayla (oh, yea, and Brennan too :-))

Yay, Gaga!!

Oh, Gaga, you just crack me up.

And, what lovely jewelry you have...may I chew on it?

Grass! This stuff is incredible!

It doesn't taste so good...

I'll be the turkey...

Big Daddy is hilarious!

First Visit to the Aquarium

We took Shuler to the Georgia Aquarium on Sunday. He was mesmerized by the colors and shapes of the fish...especially in the big tunnel! Poor kid slept for over 2 hours on the ride back...it was definitely a successful outing :-)

9 Months

Shuler is a ball of energy. He went this week for his 9 month check up and received great "marks" :-) Shuler is now 21lbs 9 oz and 28.2 inches. He met all of his developmental goals for this age: crawling, pulling up, sitting up on his own, saying 2 syllables (mama, baba, dada, gaga, etc.), banging 2 blocks together, eating finger foods :-) He has no trouble pulling up and spends most of his time testing things to see if they will support him. He loves his books, balls, and anything with music. He has recently learned to clap and gets so excited when we clap too. We are trying to get him on mostly table foods, but it has been a struggle. He really doesn't like to have to chew (unless it is cereal puffs) and he is very picky, so meals usually include at least one fit and plenty for Koozie to clean up. We are having so much fun watching to see what he will get into next!

Mommy & Shuler Day

Shuler and I had a lovely day just the two of us while Jason went to Edisto with Big Daddy. We even hit the sale at Kohl's and racked up my charge card :-) I'm just a little more proud of him every day. What a big blessing this little guy has turned out to be.

Look at my teeth! (and a little bruise on my cheek from a run-in with the mean coffee table)

New toy, lots to explore

Playing with my Koozie

Found this yellow ribbon today...it was fascinating

I love this face of concentration
